WIPet Wednesday Feb 17th

I just rewrote this piece today, from my 2nd book, this morning. Yey! I rewrote it in Joel’s POV because it was previously in Jessica/Serena’s POV.

Important info:

I changed Jessica’s name to Serena. YEY. Now I have to come up with a last name that is NOT Williams.

Serena and Lacey are best friends. They work and go to school together. Joel and Lacey are brother and sister.

Context for this scene. Serena is finally out of her awful relationship. Woohoo!

Math: 2/17 = 17 sentences for you all for today’s date.

The next evening, Joel stood by her door, hesitating a full thirty seconds. He rested his hand flat against the wall and ran his other through his hair. Why is this so hard? It’s just dinner.

But she’s said no twice…clearly indicating she still needs her space.

But it’s been over a month since she’s lived here.

Breathing in, he knocked on her—Lacey’s—door, again. When she gave permission to enter, he poked his head inside, sweeping across Lacey’s cluttered floor to where Jessica sat surrounded by her blankets, her laptop on her knees. She glanced up and pulled hot pink ear buds from her ears.

“Hey…I made dinner. You hungry?” He resisted the urge to groan. He’d had three nights; could he not have come up with something different than the same line he’d asked her last night?

This time, she smiled.

“Sure,”

“Great,” He backed out of the doorway, his smile eliciting wrinkles in his cheeks. “Whenever you’re ready,”

If you’re unfamiliar with WIPpet Wednesday, it’s a great weekly meme hosted by Emily Witt where authors can share excerpts from Works in Progress. I have greatly enjoyed reading others’ WIPs and getting to know other authors’ stories.

Until next week.

Looks like Serena is ready to start living again. Could be good news for Joel.

I once had a character with a name I liked. I adopted it, and she got a new one! =D
