Welcome to the blog, Melinda! Tell me about yourself. Have you ever been published before?

I currently live in Houston, Texas and I’m a mom to three wonderful boys, a wife to my prince charming, and a busy teacher and Marketing Director by day. I’ve had several contemporary romances traditionally published in the past, but now my focus is on Christian romance.

Tell me about The Christmas Ranch?

The Christmas Ranch is about two people who learn to find themselves in each other. Megan Palmer, a journalist, visits and reports on The Christmas Ranch in Hill Country, Texas. There she meets single dad, Brody Blackstone. Despite their differences, they fall in love and have to figure out how to make their relationship work.

What is your favorite Christmas tradition?

One of my favorite traditions is staying up late on Christmas Eve, eating tamales and driving around to see the Christmas lights. We lived in Guatemala for more than 20 years, and in that culture, families stay up until midnight and open up gifts. Tamales are the traditionally Christmas Eve meal and I have to say it’s one of my favorite things to eat on holiday.

What was the inspiration for this story?

Ever since I moved to Texas, I knew I had to write a Texas series. The Blackstone’s Christmas Ranch came to mind when a few years ago I visited my sister’s house in Louisiana for Thanksgiving. About two miles down the road is a small Christmas tree farm owned by a family from my sister’s church. I knew it would be a great setting for a small-town romance. That sparked the idea, but I moved it to the Hill Country area in Texas, which is one of the most beautiful areas I’ve visited.

I totally agree. I heard you mention more about the tree farms at the Facebook release party. The setting sounds amazing!

What inspires you to pursue this crazy journey of being an author in general?

I‘ve always been a fan of reading romance, but writing it has been my passion. Thanks to my family’s support and God’s guidance, I can pursue my passion.
