ISWG Wed/Thurs Day

Today is I mean, Yesterday was Insecure Writers Support Group Day ( You can find out more here) Welcome to the club. Even if you’re only reading this for the first time. If you’re a writer, you know how it feels to have insecurities sneak up on you. If you’re anyone at all, I’m sure you’ve felt insecurities about your career, family, education, or life in general.

So sorry I totally missed Wednesday. My apologies.

I have just received my 4th rejection. It was rather encouraging, and heartfelt. but a rejection is a rejection. Now it’s back to the drawing boards a.k.a pile of drafted proposals sitting on my desktop. When can I actually find time to finalize the proposals is the biggest question…

April and May were extremely difficult for me. Just overall, I felt like doing nothing involving writing and /or blogging.  It was killer just to even attempt to edit. Throughout June, things are improving. I am finally nearly finished editing my 2nd book, (we’ll just ignore the fact that I was supposed to do all that during April.) Which, by the way, I’m seeking beta readers for. 

This month’s question from the Insecure Writer’s Support group. “Did you ever say, “I quit”? What happened to make you come back to writing?

I haven’t actually said, I quit, although lately I’ve been feeling like that. But about 12 years ago or something, I had been writing a story but I had no clue in which genre to place this story.  At the time, I knew I didn’t want to write romance for mainstream audiences, nor did I want to write ‘Christian romance. No other genre appealed to me at the time. So I set the story aside and pursued other things in life.

Then, I attempted in 2010 to write a YA action venture book, which I still have. That didn’t really pan out either. Still working on that one 🙂

in about 2013, I found a slew of great christian fiction authors and fell in love with a handful of christian romance authors, and I began to wonder, maybe I can write christian fiction after all. Maybe my old story would fit in this genre. So in 2014, I busted out my first contemporary Christian romance manuscript and have been editing it and more recently querying.

Although it has a somewhat negative connotation, depending on who you talk to, I think Christian fiction has vastly improved in quality over the last 10 to 15 years. I am striving to represent that facet of high quality christian fiction writing.
