So yeah OF COURSE February is Love of Reading month!! Something I didn’t know until a few days ago.
Guess what that means. More excuses for me to SPREAD THE LOVE OF READING!
Am I coming on too strong? Well, too bad.
I love to read, and I thought I would share a few of my favorite authors with you for the next few weeks.
First up, my favorite classic author: Alexandre Dumas
How can you go wrong with books like, The Three Musketeers (I read the unabridged version in high school, sophomore year?) The Count of Monte Cristo (one of my all-time favorite classic novels, which I have read twice. (well, mostly twice) Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, HOW DID I NOT KNOW HE WROTE THIS! And a host of other amazing novels. Most of these books are very, very heavy books and difficult to read, but you really should read them anyway (just try) because none of the movies do them justice! Not ONE. Even though I am a fan of the movies, they’re all horrible compared to the books.
Reasons I love his books:
- the swashbuckling sword fights!
- the historical background!
- the beautiful storytelling, it’s incredible how detailed and deep his stories go,
- The depth of characterization is phenomenal. Look at some of these iconic characters that are household names.
- Did I mention all the amazing sword fighting??
There you have it. Stay tuned for some of my favorite contemporary authors!!
Who are your favorite authors?? I love hearing from you, please tell me in the comments! Or on Facebook or Twitter
And please, go pick up a book and read!
