My thoughts:

Out of the 4 books in the Song of Suspense Series, I think I enjoyed this one the most. I do think books 3 and 4 had better, more believable endings. However, this book had the most action, and the most interesting romantic relationship. Overall, such a fun read!

The characters

I adored Aria. One of my favorite female leads. Super genius, but does not act like one, or come off arrogant at all. Compassionate and exceptionally musically gifted. I think I have a secret thing for musically gifted characters. (Which is why I love this series 🙂

I also liked Nick: as an acion hero, secret agent, he’s totally heroic and brave, but still harbors flaws born from a very painful childhood. I actually appreciated Bridgeman’s choice to tell his story from his childhood onward, before he became a soldier and then a secret agent, because it really displayed to the reader the depth of his character much more to know where he came from, instead of us finding out some other way. The way he grows up exposes his fatal flaw, which follows him for over a decade. It’s fascinating.

The story

As I mentioned, out of all of the song of suspense books, I enjoyed this one the most and that was due in part to the amount of action and suspense. The action and romance were equal parts, and in my opinion, the action, tension and suspense was implemented much earlier on, which made for a great page turner. Also, because of the split POV, whenever we were with Nick in his POV, there was plenty of action just by the nature of his job as a secret agent.

Recommended?

Absolutely I recommend this book. By itself or along with the series, it’s a great romantic and suspenseful read.
